Burton snowboard guide: boards, boots, Step On and bindings

Burton Custom, Process and Good Company snowboards

The Custom Camber has been Burton's all-mountain benchmark since 1996, with a classic camber profile, a Super Fly II 700G core and carbon-highlight fiberglass for pop and precision. The Process Flying V is a true twin inspired by Mark McMorris, mixing rocker and camber for float and a playful feel. The Good Company Camber pairs traditional camber with a true twin shape and a Super Fly 800G core for park laps and all-mountain lines.

Beginner and kids' Burton snowboards

The Cultivator Flat Top is flat between the feet with rockered tips, a soft flex and a true twin shape, so it's stable, catch-free and easy to learn on; a 155W size keeps larger boots clear of the snow. For kids, the Grom has a super soft flex and a forgiving, catch-free profile, and the Mini Grom Rocker is built for the youngest riders. Board size depends mostly on your weight, boot size and riding style, so ask us at Levis Commons if you're between sizes.

Burton snowboard boots: Moto, Ruler, Limelight and Felix

The Moto BOA is a soft-flexing, comfort-first boot refined over 17 years, with a BOA Coiler dial and a heat-moldable Imprint 1+ liner, a natural pick for beginners and freestyle riders. The Ruler BOA steps up to a medium flex for park and all-mountain riding. For women, the Limelight BOA has a slightly firmer, more supportive build and the Felix BOA adds Dual Zone BOA lacing and an Imprint 3 liner. Kids can choose the Smalls BOA, Grom BOA or Mini Grom.

Burton Step On bindings and boots

Step On bindings lock onto your boot at three connection points, two at the toe and one at the heel, so you click in standing up with no straps. They require Step On boots: we carry the stiffer Highshot and Highshot X, the Photon with Dual-Zone BOA, the playful Waverange for men and women, and the women's Felix Step On. Bindings include Step On Re:Flex for men and women, Step On Genesis Re:Flex and the medium-stiff Step On Cartel X.

Burton Re:Flex bindings: Cartel, Freestyle, Mission and Lexa

Re:Flex baseplates are compatible with all major snowboard mounting systems. The Freestyle is fun and forgiving for progressing riders, the Mission is Burton's proven workhorse, and the Cartel Re:Flex adds a more responsive feel with Hammockstrap 2.0 and Supergrip Capstrap straps. The Lexa is the women's all-mountain go-to, and the Malavita and Cartel X EST are also available.

Burton snowboard jackets, pants and mittens

The Reserve 2L Insulated Jacket has 20K waterproofing, fully taped seams and Burton's Just Right Fit. Reserve 2L shell pants, Reserve GORE-TEX 2L pants and bibs, and [ak] Swash GORE-TEX 2L pieces cover storm days, and Gondy GORE-TEX leather mittens, Anon goggles and helmets, socks and stomp pads finish the kit.

Frequently asked questions

Are Burton snowboards good?
Yes. Burton has built the Custom since 1996, and boards like the Custom Camber, Process Flying V and Good Company use lightweight Super Fly wood cores and sintered bases for pop and speed. The lineup runs from the beginner-friendly Cultivator Flat Top to the camber Custom, so there's a Burton for most riders.
Which Burton snowboard is best for beginners?
The Cultivator Flat Top. It's flat between the feet with rockered tips and a soft flex, so it's stable and hard to catch an edge on, and it comes in a 155W size for bigger boots. For kids, the Grom and Mini Grom are built to make learning easy.
What's the difference between the Burton Custom and Good Company?
Both are camber boards. The Custom Camber is Burton's all-mountain benchmark, with a Super Fly II 700G core and carbon-highlight fiberglass for pop and precision. The Good Company Camber is a true twin with a Super Fly 800G core, built to ride switch and lap the park as well as the whole mountain.
Are Burton Step On bindings good?
They're a great choice if you want to get in and out fast. Step On locks your boot in at three connection points, two at the toe and one at the heel, so you click in standing up with no straps to adjust. You'll need Step On boots, such as the Highshot, Photon, Waverange or Felix Step On.
Do Burton Step On bindings work with any snowboard?
Step On Re:Flex bindings mount on any board with a major mounting system, because the Re:Flex baseplate is compatible with all of them. The catch is the boot: Step On bindings only work with Burton Step On boots.
Which Burton snowboard boots should I get: Moto, Ruler or Photon?
The Moto BOA has a soft, forgiving flex for beginners and freestyle riders. The Ruler BOA is a medium flex that handles park and all-mountain riding. The Photon Step On is for riders who want Step On convenience with Dual-Zone BOA heel hold; the Highshot Step On is the stiffer option for charging harder terrain.
Do Burton snowboard boots run small?
Start with your usual shoe size. A new snowboard boot should feel snug, with your toes lightly touching the front when you stand straight and pulling back when you bend your knees, and heat-moldable liners like the Moto's Imprint 1+ settle in with use. Try them on at Levis Commons to compare sizes and models.
Where can I buy Burton near Toledo?
Most of our Burton snowboards, boots, bindings and outerwear are in stock at our Levis Commons store at 4170 Levis Commons Blvd in Perrysburg, Ohio. You can also order online; orders over $69 ship free in the contiguous US.
