The North Face guide: ski jackets, puffers, fleece and gloves

The North Face ski jackets: Freedom, Descendit and Lenado

The men's Freedom Insulated Jacket pairs 100% recycled DryVent 2L waterproof fabric with Heatseeker insulation, plus a helmet-compatible hood, mesh-lined underarm vents and a snap-down powder skirt. The women's Descendit has a seam-sealed DryVent 2L shell, Heatseeker Eco insulation, a helmet-compatible hood and pit zips. The women's Lenado is a slim-fit insulated ski jacket with a DryVent 2L shell.

The North Face ski pants

Freedom Insulated Pants add Heatseeker Eco insulation to waterproof, breathable fabric, with Chimney Venting inner-thigh vents and reinforced kickpatches in a standard fit. Women can choose the slim-fit Lenado or the Sally Insulated Pant, and kids get Freedom Insulated Pants for boys and girls.

The North Face puffer and down jackets

The 1996 Retro Nuptse brings back the original oversized baffles with 700-fill recycled down and a hood that stows in the collar. The Hydrenalite is a bomber-inspired puffer with 600-fill recycled down and a non-PFC DWR finish, and the Aconcagua blends 600-fill down with recycled polyester plus synthetic insulation in the hood, shoulders and underarms. The women's Arctic Parka adds a waterproof DryVent 2L shell to 600-fill recycled down.

The North Face fleece: Osito, Glacier and Summit FUTUREFLEECE

The Osito is plush high-pile fleece for everyday warmth, and the Glacier ¼ Zip is a lighter layer. Summit Series FUTUREFLEECE is a high-loft, low-weight recycled fleece that stays breathable when you're working hard. We also carry TNF Performance Fleece, Cap Rock and Yumiori styles.

The North Face gloves: Montana and Etip

Montana gloves and mitts combine a waterproof, breathable DryVent insert, Heatseeker Eco insulation, a fleece lining and a gauntlet cuff, with Etip touchscreen thumb and index fingers. They come in men's, women's, short and kids' versions. Apex Insulated Etip, Osito Etip and Etip Recycled gloves are lighter options for everyday cold.

The North Face kids' jackets, snow pants and gloves

Boys' and girls' Freedom Insulated jackets and pants are waterproof, and the pants have Good to Grow cuffs that extend 2" as kids get taller. The teen Snowquest Jacket pairs a DryVent 2L shell with Heatseeker Eco insulation and a ski pass pocket. Shasta gloves and mitts have Heatseeker insulation, a fleece lining, Etip tips and cuff snaps that keep pairs together.

Frequently asked questions

How do you wash a North Face jacket?
Follow the care label on your jacket first. For most shell and insulated snow jackets, close the zips, machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent made for technical outerwear, and skip fabric softener and bleach, which can hurt waterproofing and the DWR finish.
How do you wash a North Face puffer jacket?
Check the care label, then wash it on its own on a gentle cycle in cold water with a down-safe detergent. Tumble dry on low until it's completely dry, since down that stays damp can clump; dryer balls help restore the loft.
Do North Face jackets run small?
It depends on the style, so check the fit listed on each product. The Freedom Insulated Jacket and Pants are a standard fit, the women's Lenado is a slim fit, and the Arctic Parka has a relaxed silhouette for layering. If you're between sizes or plan to layer underneath, try both sizes at Levis Commons.
Is The North Face Freedom jacket good for skiing?
Yes. The Freedom Insulated Jacket is built for the slopes, with a waterproof DryVent 2L shell, Heatseeker insulation, a helmet-compatible hood, mesh-lined underarm vents, a snap-down powder skirt and a wrist pocket with a goggle wipe.
Are North Face Montana gloves warm enough for skiing?
Yes. Montana gloves are built for skiing and snowboarding, with a waterproof DryVent insert, Heatseeker Eco insulation, a brushed fleece lining and a gauntlet cuff that seals out snow. Etip fingertips let you use your phone without taking them off.
Which North Face puffer is warmest: Nuptse, Hydrenalite or Aconcagua?
The 1996 Retro Nuptse uses 700-fill recycled down, the highest fill power of the three; the Hydrenalite and Aconcagua use 600-fill. For wet, snowy days, the Arctic Parka pairs 600-fill recycled down with a waterproof DryVent 2L shell.
Do you carry North Face jackets for kids?
Yes. We carry Freedom Insulated jackets and pants for boys and girls, with pants that extend 2" as kids grow, the teen Snowquest ski jacket, and Shasta, Montana and Sierra Etip gloves and mitts.
Where can I buy The North Face near Toledo?
Most of our North Face jackets, fleece and gloves are in stock at our Levis Commons store at 4170 Levis Commons Blvd in Perrysburg, Ohio. You can also order online; orders over $69 ship free in the contiguous US.
