Frequently asked questions
Rain jacket or raincoat: what's the difference?
Rain jackets usually end at the hip and are lighter and more packable, good for hiking and travel. Raincoats are longer, covering your seat and upper legs, which keeps you drier walking around town.
What's the difference between waterproof and water-resistant?
Waterproof jackets have a membrane or coating and taped seams for steady rain. Water-resistant jackets handle a light shower but will soak through in a downpour.
What do 2.5L and 3L mean?
They describe how the waterproof fabric is built. 2.5-layer shells are light and packable, and 3-layer shells are the most durable and breathable for regular hard use.
How do I keep my rain jacket waterproof?
Wash it with a technical-fabric cleaner now and then, and when water stops beading, renew the DWR finish with a spray-on or wash-in treatment.
