Frequently asked questions
What length skis should I get?
Most adults ski something between chin and the top of their head. Go shorter if you're a beginner, prefer quick short turns or ski mostly groomers. Go longer if you're heavier, ski fast or want float in powder. Rockered skis ski shorter than their length, so you can size up a little on those.
What waist width is best for Midwest skiing?
For firm, groomed Midwest snow, a waist of roughly 75 to 85 mm grips best and turns quickly. If you also travel out west and want one ski for everything, 85 to 100 mm is the all-mountain sweet spot. Wider than 100 mm is mainly for powder and soft snow.
Do these skis come with bindings?
Some do. Packages are listed with the binding in the title (for example 'Skis + binding system'). Skis listed as 'flat' come without bindings, so you'll need bindings purchased separately and mounted and adjusted by a qualified ski shop.
Camber or rocker skis?
Camber underfoot gives edge grip and stability on hardpack. Rocker in the tip, or tip and tail, makes skis easier to turn and float better in soft snow. Most all-mountain skis combine the two.
