Mid-profile rope caps like the Richardson 258 and 355 sit at a classic height and give a logo plenty of room. Low-profile caps like the Richardson 256 Umpqua sit closer to the head for a relaxed, tailored look.

Fabric

Polyester and performance fabrics (Richardson 258 and 355, Outdoor Cap 550PF and 660, OTTO 31-5) are light and dry fast, which suits golf and fishing. Cotton and cotton-blend caps (Richardson 256, Outdoor Cap 602, OTTO 1959-1) have a softer, more casual feel.

Mesh back or solid back

Rope truckers such as the Richardson 112FPR and OTTO 32-2 and 39-071 pair a rope front with a breathable mesh back. Solid-back rope caps look cleaner from behind and hold their shape.

Ventilation and sweatbands
