Costa sunglasses guide: 580 lenses, fishing frames and fit
Costa 580 lenses: 580G vs 580P
Every Costa frame uses polarized 580 lenses, which cut haze and blur and boost contrast and color. 580G is glass, Costa's clearest and most scratch-resistant lens; 580P is polycarbonate. Mirror options like Blue Mirror are best for bright, full-sun days on open water and offshore.
Costa PRO fishing sunglasses: Reefton Pro and Blackfin Pro
The PRO Series adds angler features to classic frames: sweat channels and eyewire drains, fully adjustable vented nose pads, side shields and top hooding to block light leak, stickier Hydrolite and metal keeper slots for a retainer. The Blackfin Pro comes with 580G glass lenses.
Costa Tuna Alley, Cat Cay and Fantail
Tuna Alley is a performance fishing frame with integral hinges, a patented vent system and a tough TR-90 nylon frame, with 580 Glass lenses. Cat Cay is a vented, regular-fit fishing frame with 580 lenses and mirrored options. The Fantail is the smaller kin of the Blackfin, with an 8-base curve and a castor-plant bio-resin frame.
Costa Paunch vs Paunch XL
The Paunch is a bio-resin beach frame with textured Hydrolite nose pads and a regular fit. The Paunch XL is slightly larger than the original, with the same 580 lenses, integrated metal hinges and Hydrolite nose pads, for anyone who wants a bigger fit. The Spearo XL is nearly 10% larger than the original Spearo.
Costa Rinconcito and Rincon
The Rinconcito is a rectangular, sporty bio-resin frame with glass lenses and scratchproof mirrors sealed between layers of glass. The Rincon is a bigger, oversized frame with spring hinges and a straight bridge, made for larger heads.
Hydrolite grip and frame fit
Most Costa frames use Hydrolite rubber nose pads and temples that get stickier the wetter they get, so your sunglasses stay put on the boat. Check each frame's fit: the Rincon is an oversized fit, the Saltbreak has a high-bridge fit, and the Paunch, Cat Cay and Corbina are regular fits.
