Hey folks, Zach here from Ridge and River, and I’m seriously excited about this one. Patagonia is officially in the shop, and I couldn’t be more pumped to have it both in-store here in Toledo, Ohio and available online.
I’ve used a lot of Patagonia gear over the years, and what we’ve brought in is the real deal. This lineup is built for performance, fits our Midwest adventures perfectly, and comes with the durability and values Patagonia is known for. Whether you're trail running at Oak Openings, traveling north to the UP, or just staying ready for Ohio's surprise weather shifts, we’ve got you covered.
Here are some of my favorite pieces and why I think you’ll love them too.
Patagonia Houdini Jacket: Lightweight and Always With Me
The Houdini Jacket is one of those layers you don’t think about until you need it. It weighs just over 3 ounces and packs into its own chest pocket, making it the jacket I never leave behind.
Why it works:
-
Wind-resistant with a durable water repellent finish.
-
Stuffs down small enough to fit in a running vest or hip belt.
-
Hood fits over a hat or helmet.
-
Breathes well enough for active use.
This jacket has bailed me out more times than I can count when the wind or rain picks up mid-run or hike.
Better Sweater: Built for the Backyard and the Campsite
The Better Sweater is what I grab when I need something warm, comfortable, and sharp enough to wear around town. It’s fleece on the inside, sweater-knit on the outside, and works great for layering on cool mornings.
Top features:
-
Recycled polyester fleece.
-
Clean fit that layers easily.
-
Zippered pockets to keep gear or keys close.
-
Flat seams that feel smooth against the skin.
This is the one I wear around the fire or for early coffee runs before a hike.

R1 Air Zip Hoody: Breathable, Technical, and Ready for Action
The R1 Air is my favorite fleece when I’m moving. It keeps you warm but not sweaty thanks to the zigzag pattern that moves moisture while trapping heat.
Why I recommend it:
-
Lightweight and breathable.
-
Half zip makes it easy to vent.
-
Slim fit layers under jackets easily.
-
Offset seams for comfort with a pack.
If you’re climbing, running, or layering in cold weather, this one’s a workhorse.

Black Hole Bags: The Toughest Travel Gear You’ll Use
Whether you’re loading up for a road trip or hauling gear to a weekend campsite, the Black Hole Series is my top pick for bags that can take a beating.
What we’ve got in the shop:
-
Atom Sling Bag – compact and perfect for everyday carry.
-
32L Black Hole Pack – great for day hikes and commuting.
-
Black Hole Duffels in 40L, 55L, and 70L sizes – ultra-durable and weather-resistant.
These bags are made with 100 percent recycled materials and they hold up like nothing else I’ve used.
Torrentshell 3L Rain Jacket: Rain Protection You Can Count On
The Torrentshell 3L is my favorite shell when I know rain’s coming. It keeps water out and breathes enough to wear comfortably for long hikes or even just running errands.
Why I trust it:
-
Waterproof 3-layer H2No construction.
-
Packs into its own pocket.
-
Adjustable hood and pit zips for ventilation.
-
Great for day hikes, bike commutes, or throwing in your bag just in case.
It’s the first jacket I pack anytime the weather looks questionable.

Why I Stand Behind Patagonia at Ridge and River
We didn’t bring Patagonia into the shop just because of the name. We brought it in because we believe in what they make and how they make it. From using recycled fabrics to supporting repairs and reuse, Patagonia puts the planet first while still making some of the most dependable gear I’ve used.
This lineup fits right into what we do here at Ridge and River. It's versatile enough for everyday life in Toledo, and tough enough for serious outdoor missions.
